1 Key Closes Windows?

I got a refurbished Advent laptop recently. On certain windows, when i type 1, the window closes. It happens with MSN conversations and on Windows Explorer. Although, when I press 1 very lightly, on the right-hand side it doesn't close the window. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.
