One day late..which test to use?

Im one day late on my period. I have been using the first response tests (supposed to predict 5 days before period) but I got bfn. Last time I tested was last Thursday. Should I test again or should I wait? The problem is these tester kits are so pricey! Could anyone recommend a good brand?
