What is the best way to take a security tag off boots bought from Asda?

If you can fit the boots into the freezer and freeze the dye inside the tag it will work and you won't get any on your hands.I remember many years ago the same thing happened to me I had paid for my daughters Jacket which had the tag still attached and was accosted outside everyone was looking at me and I stared straight back and said what are you all looking at.They apologised profusely to me and had sent the cashier for a tea break.
